West 11th Street | Manhattan, NYC

Our team provided architectural and structural coordination services for the full reconstruction of the sidewalk vault at 11 West 11th Street. The work involved the near-complete replacement of the vault’s structural steel framing, addressing advanced deterioration that had compromised load capacity and long-term safety.

The project required careful sequencing beneath an active sidewalk and occupied building, close coordination with structural engineers and contractors, and precise detailing to integrate new steel framing with the existing structure.

Original Construction: Early 20th century (c. 1900–1910)

Construction Type: Steel-framed and masonry residential building with sidewalk vault structure

Landmark Status: Located within an LPC-designated Historic District (Greenwich Village)
