Energy Code Compliance
Since 1979, all new construction and major alterations in New York State have been required to comply with the State Energy Code. In July 2010, New York City introduced its own New York City Energy Conservation Code (NYCECC), extending energy-code requirements to all alterations and renovations.
Compliance with the NYCECC requires meeting specified performance standards for insulation, windows and glazing, heating and ventilation systems, air conditioning, hot water equipment, lighting, and power systems. To demonstrate compliance, applications must include a Professional Statement, an Energy Analysis, and all Supporting Documentation.
