Carla Michelle Murray is a licensed architect and LEED AP whose work integrates architectural design, sustainability, and historic preservation with deep building-science expertise. With over 25 years of experience across New York City, she brings a design-focused and environmentally conscious perspective to the firm’s restoration, landmark, and architectural projects, ensuring that performance, sustainability, and aesthetics remain central to every solution.

As Managing Partner of caseworks, Carla oversees firm operations, project delivery, and design standards while maintaining an active role in both commercial and residential architecture. She has led work on some of the city’s most recognizable landmarked structures, guiding façade rehabilitation, window and storefront replacements, waterproofing, and historic restoration programs with sensitivity to material integrity, historic context, and long-term resilience.

Carla’s design approach balances craft, clarity, and environmental responsibility. She plays a key leadership role in shaping the firm’s sustainability initiatives and its approach to both landmark compliance and design excellence. Her experience also extends to adaptive reuse, building-wide upgrades, and full architectural projects that require coordination of envelope, structural, and life-safety systems.

A graduate of The Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at The Cooper Union, Carla also holds a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in science from New York University. Her background in fine arts and sustainable design continues to inform her architectural work, reinforcing Caseworks’ commitment to solutions that are thoughtful, durable, and deeply rooted in an understanding of how buildings age and evolve.
