Drone Inspections
Drone Use for FISP
In 2020, the New York City Council passed Local Law 102, directing the Department of Buildings to evaluate the use of unmanned aircraft systems (drones) to support building envelope inspections alongside required hands-on examinations.
In 2023, NYC established formal rules and guidelines for drone operations. To legally take off or land a drone in New York City, individuals or organizations must obtain a permit from the New York Police Department (NYPD) and secure authorization from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
Common Challenges for Building Owners
Understanding how drone footage can enhance inspections
Determining who is authorized to operate drones legally
Navigating the permitting and approval process
With a licensed commercial drone pilot on our team, we can capture high-resolution imagery of extensive areas of the building envelope, providing a level of detail that is difficult to achieve from the ground alone. This advanced technology allows us to identify issues more efficiently and deliver more accurate, effective results.
